Have you heard about Access Surgery?

Access Surgery and Access Surgery Premier are hospital treatment insurance policies from Westfield Health. These policies are not Private Medical Insurance however they do cover policyholders privately for new medical conditions that the NHS define as non-urgent.

There is no cover on either policy for cancer treatment, heart conditions or chronic conditions. A chronic condition is a disease, illness or injury that needs regular or periodic treatment, medication or advice.

Who is eligible for Access Surgery cover?

Both policies are available to anyone aged between 18 and 79 years of age. If you have a policy in place prior to turning 80 years of age you do not have to cancel the cover but you would be unable to make any benefit changes to it other than cancelling the policy.

To be eligible you must live either in the UK, Jersey or Isle of Man for a minimum of 180 days each year.

The underwriting option for these policies is Moratorium.

Examples of what types of procedures are available to policy holders:

Access Surgery in fact provides access to 63 common non-urgent surgical procedures and policyholders are covered for a maximum of 3 surgical procedures in any 12 month consecutive period. Access Surgery has a maximum benefit level of £100,000 and Access Surgery Premier £250,000 during the lifetime of their cover.

How much does it cost for Access Surgery?

The cost of a policy is related to the age of a member only. The premiums are not affected by where the member lives or the number of claims that are made.
