Looking for company dental insurance in the UK?

There are many options available for businesses who want to introduce dental insurance for their staff.  Different cover levels from different providers enable you to really choose what cover you would like. The higher the cover level, the higher the cost of your premium.

Most providers allow you the choice of paying annually or monthly.

Let’s look at the Bupa Dental Plan

Policy options from Bupa offer a great variety of plans available for businesses to choose from.

  • The Bupa Dental Plan offers core, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 or Level 4
  • Bupa Dental Choice offers Classic, Premier, Platinum or Prestige

Cover is available on a worldwide basis for all plans other than for the Oral cancer benefit which is UK only. Any oral cancer treatment received within 6 months of the start of the plan would not be eligible for cover.

What types of dental cover are available from Bupa?

  • Routine dental examinations
  • Dental X-rays
  • Scale and Polish
  • Fillings
  • Root canal treatment
  • Extractions
  • Restorative Dental treatment

Depending on which option you choose for your dental insurance you may also be able to claim for:

  • Orthodontic Treatment & Anaesthetist fees
  • Cash benefit for hospital stay
  • Surgical implants
  • Dentures
  • Mouthguards

Why would you buy a dental insurance policy for your staff?

Dental insurance is a low cost, great value benefit and your employees do not have to have a dental examination prior to joining. Dental insurance is a way of spreading the cost of dental treatment across a 12 month period. If your employees use a Bupa dental centre they can sort out the claim for them straight away. Using a Bupa owned practice within the Bupa network means the members do not have to pay up-front and claim the money back.

If you choose to use a different dental practice you would pay for the treatment and claim the charges back. (subject to the benefit limit of the policy in place)

Who is eligible for cover?

All employees over the age of 18 would be eligible for cover. Child dependants of the main member can remain on cover until the age of 24.

Are there general exclusions to dental cover by Bupa?

As with insurance policies of any type, there are general exclusions that apply to the dental policies. For Dental insurance the exclusions applied by Bupa include things such as:

  • Treatment that is cosmetic
  • Treatment in relation to mouth jewellery
  • Oral cancer in relation to the tonsils or salivary glands
  • Dental injury due to a physical contact sport
  • Surgical implants or bridge treatment for gaps that existed prior to taking the policy
