Company dental insurance options in the UK

There are many options available for businesses who want to buy company dental insurance.  Different cover levels from different providers enable you to really choose what cover you would like. The higher the cover level, the higher the cost of your premium.

Most providers allow you the choice of paying annually or monthly.

Let’s look at the Bupa Dental Plan

Company dental insurance options from Bupa offer a great variety of plans available for businesses to choose from.

  • The Bupa Dental Plan offers core, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 or Level 4
  • Bupa Dental Choice offers Classic, Premier, Platinum or Prestige

Cover is available on a worldwide basis for all plans other than for the Oral cancer benefit which is UK only. Any oral cancer treatment received within 6 months of the start of the plan is not eligible for cover.

What types of company dental insurance cover are available from Bupa?

Depending on which option you choose for your dental insurance you may also be able to claim for:

  • Orthodontic Treatment & Anaesthetist fees
  • Cash benefit for hospital stay
  • Surgical implants
  • Dentures
  • Mouthguards

Why would you buy a company dental insurance policy?

Dental insurance is a low cost, great value benefit.  Your employees do not have to have a dental examination prior to joining. Dental insurance is a way of spreading the cost of dental treatment across a 12 month period. If your employees use a Bupa dental centre they can sort out the claim for them straight away. Members can use a Bupa owned practice within the Bupa network. This means they do not have to pay up-front and claim the money back.

If you choose to use a different dental practice you would pay for the treatment and claim the charges back. (subject to the benefit limit of the policy in place)

Who is eligible for cover?

All employees over the age of 18 would be eligible for cover. Child dependants of the main member can remain on cover until the age of 24.

Are there general exclusions to company dental insurance cover by Bupa?

  • Treatment that is cosmetic
  • Treatment in relation to mouth jewellery
  • Oral cancer in relation to the tonsils or salivary glands
