When you choose a private medical insurance policy either as an individual, family or business policy for your staff, have you considered the benefit in opting for a policy that will offer you a level of cover for dental claims?
With fewer NHS dentists offering availability, more and more people in the UK are looking to private dentists for their treatment which inevitably results in an increase in treatment costs. If you do not want to take a stand alone dental policy there are a number of health insurance providers who will offer a dental add on to their policies.
*A good example would be the AVIVA dental and optical add-on for company schemes, known as option 4. For a minimal additional cost, members of the AVIVA private medical insurance policy would have access to £500 routine dental treatment, £600 dental accident and £300 optical treatment. Regardless of the excess you have chosen on your private medical insurance, there is a £50 excess applied to the dental and optical benefit. The excess would apply to each claim made.
If you are looking at individual policies there are also a number of insurance providers who will offer a dental benefit add-on such as AVIVA, AXA PPP, BUPA and Vitality Health to name but a few.
As a general rule there will be an element of cover in the core part of your policy for oral surgery performed in a hospital, this is limited to specific procedures and any claims for oral surgery (along with all claims) should be discussed and pre-authorised with your insurance provider to ensure they are covered prior to having any treatment.
