Self employed? Then this is a must read!

Did you know that AXA PPP offer group private health insurance to a self-employed person?

If you are already self employed or you’re thinking of becoming self employed then you really should consider a private health insurance policy.

What are the benefits?

This insurance can supplement what’s available on the NHS.

It gives you the choice in the level of care you get and how and when it is provided.

Some specialist drugs and treatments aren’t available on the NHS but are available if you have a private medical insurance policy.

You get quicker access to physiotherapy sessions if you have private medical insurance than you would through the NHS.

It can be good value for money if you need specialist, expensive treatment.

When you’re self-employed you may be eligible for tax relief as you may be able to offset it as a business expense. We would recommend that you check with your accountant in relation to any tax matters.

NHS waiting times

The current waiting times in Chelmsford, Essex for procedures such as Arthroscopy of the knee is up to 16 weeks.  Health insurance can guard you against being off work and losing earnings if you have to wait for NHS treatment.  In other parts of Essex, the waiting times for procedures such as a heart bypass can be up to 31 weeks.  Can you really afford to wait this long for a surgical procedure?

Worse still, is that your NHS surgery may be cancelled and this can often happen on the actual day of the planned procedure.

On a budget?

You can choose the level of cover that is affordable for you as AXA PPP offer a menu-based proposition. This means you can tailor make the cover to suit your requirements and your pocket.

Common ways of keeping the premium down is to opt for reduced out-patient cover or add an excess.  In-patient and day-patient costs will still be covered in full, so you don’t have to worry about surgical procedures being covered.

Cover for your family

You can add your spouse/partner and children to your policy as your dependents.

You only pay for the first child so if you have other children, they are covered free of charge.
