Diagnostic Testing is used by medical professionals to provide an accurate diagnosis when you feel unwell. There are many different types available and therefore you may need a combination of tests to be completed.

You will often have diagnostic testing completed as an out-patient. It is unusual for you to need to stay in hospital specifically for diagnostic testing.

If you have a health insurance policy, you can put a limit on your out-patient treatment as a way to save money. If you do limit your cover, you may need to self-fund once you have reached your monetary limit.

What type of tests might you asked to have?

  • MRI scan
  • CT scan
  • PET scan
  • Blood Tests
  • X-Rays

This list is not exhaustive.

Information about Diagnostic Tests

You will have cover for diagnostic testing if you have a Health Insurance policy in the UK. However, if you have chosen a reduced out-patient cover policy, there may be an annual monetary limit applicable. Importantly, you should pre-authorise your treatment before having it done to ensure it is eligible for cover.
