dental-insuranceAt Ascend Health, we are aware of the ever-rising costs of dental treatment. We work with some of the UK’s largest dental insurance providers; BUPA, CIGNA and Simplyhealth are all on our panel of providers.

Dental insurance is more cost-effective when you buy a company policy.

Depending on your budget, there are different levels of cover available, offering core cover for routine dental treatment, then varying levels of cover for X-rays, fillings, extractions, crowns, bridgework and dentures. Dental implants are normally excluded from cover.

Oral cancer cover

There are policies available that offer full cover for oral cancer. Check your policy wording, as some policies have a maximum oral cancer limit of £10,000, or £15,000 per policy lifetime.

The other advantage of taking a company dental insurance policy is that, generally, you are not required to have a pre-joining dental check-up. You are also not restricted to a specific dental practitioner.

There are other options in the healthcare market that will offer you certain levels of dental insurance without taking a stand-alone policy. Some insurers offer a dental or dental & optical combined add-on to their Private Medical Insurance policies. These add-ons do not provide the same monetary cover levels as stand alone cover. Many clients, however, find this level of treatment more than enough.

Cash plans for dental cover

Cash plans also provide another solution to paying dental costs. Depending on the level of cash plan you decide to take, you would be eligible to cashback on costs relating to dental treatment. You would pay for the treatment in the first instance, then claim the cash back from your insurer. Cash plan claims are predominantly made online. Your provider will reimburse you up to the benefit level. Again, there are no pre-joining check-ups for this type of cover.

As with all insurance policies, there will be terms and conditions applicable. Speak to the team at Ascend Health who will help you to choose the option that will suit your long-term dental insurance needs.
