Insurers refer to older children covered on a policy as over-age dependants. As an example, if you have a policy covering 2 adults and 2 children, when the children reach a certain age they will be charged as an adult or over-age dependant.

Your insurance provider will advise you when this change will happen. For some it is 21 and others it could be 24.

Your children can remain on your policy as a dependant for many years. We would however, recommend that you check the premium against a stand-alone policy. A stand-alone policy could be a cheaper option.
