Some insurers do have age restrictions on Child Dependents. For example, when they reach 18, 21, 24 they may have to come off of your cover. Other providers allow then to remain as a dependent regardless of age.

Once they have reached 21/ 24 they will become an Over Age Dependent and could be charged an adult rate.

When you have a new baby or adopt a child, you may be eligible for a Baby Bonus. This is a cash payment – commonly £100. This is a one off payment. You would normally have to be a member for 10 months before being able to claim a child baby bonus.

If you are insured via a company policy, your employer may allow you to add your children to your policy. They may ask you to pay the child element of the premium.
