The Coronavirus is also refereed to as COVID-19 and is a highly contagious and infectious disease. Every country across the world is facing a huge battle to vaccinate their people to give them immunity against this disease.

Many of us will only experience mild symptoms or may show no symptoms at all however, older people and those with underlying Health Conditions may become seriously ill. COVID-19 can sadly prove fatal.

The common symptoms of COVID-19 are:

  • Fever
  • Dry cough
  • Fatigue

You may also experience lesser reported symptoms such as:

  • Loss of taste or smell,
  • Nasal congestion,
  • Conjunctivitis (also known as red eyes)
  • Sore throat,
  • Headache,
  • Muscle or joint pain,
  • Different types of skin rash,
  • Nausea or vomiting,
  • Diarrhea,
  • Chills or dizziness.

The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

There are a number of preventative measures in place to help to protect you from catching coronavirus and importantly everyone should follow this government advice.

  • Wearing a mask
  • Washing your hands
  • Keeping a distance from others
  • Only travelling out of your local area if it is essential.
