Fantastic cover options from The Exeter

When you are choosing a private medical insurance policy for yourself or your family there are so many options. The Exeter are certainly one provider you should consider.

There are some great brands in the market, many of whom are household names. We would urge you to consider some of the smaller brands who really can offer you excellent value for money.

Health + from The Exeter is only available to personal customers who want cover for themselves or their family. The Exeter do not offer SME or corporate private medical insurance.

What can you expect from Health +?

With a great level of core cover including your in-patient and day patient cover, complete cancer cover, private ambulance, out-patient surgery, home nursing, parental accommodation, post-op physiotherapy, NHS cash benefit and the Health Wise app you can then look at the optional add-ons.

What are the optional add-ons?

  • Increased out-patient cover
  • Cover for Mental Health conditions
  • Therapies (Including physiotherapy, osteopathy, chiropractor, acupuncture, podiatry, speech therapy, pain clinic or 2 consultations with a dietician)

What are the hospital choices available on Health +

There are 3 hospital list options on the Health + policy:

  • Essential
  • Standard
  • Extended

The more hospitals you want to have access to will increase your premium. It is worth looking to see whether the Essentials or Standard list offer cover the hospitals close to your home area.

As an example, if you live in the Chelmsford area. The Essential list would give you access to local private hospitals such as the Springfield Hospital, the Oaks Hospital and the Spire Hartswood near Brentwood. You should be aware however that the GenesisCare cancer specialist centre in Chelmsford (in the Springfield Hospital grounds) is not covered on the Essential list. To include cover for this facility you would need to upgrade to the Standard list.

Cover for hospitals in London such as the Wellington , Moorfields Eye clinic, The Lister and the London Clinic is available on the Extended list only. If you would like to include cover for the majority of the Central London private hospitals, the Extended list would be the best option.

What choice of underwriting do they offer?

The Exeter offer the choice of full medical underwriting and standard moratorium underwriting for clients new to private medical insurance. If you already have a policy in place, you may be able to switch your policy to The Exeter. Depending on your medical history its possible that no further underwriting will be applied.

What levels of Excess can you add to your cover?

The Exeter offer a vast range of excess levels. The higher the excess level you choose, the lower your premium will be. Excess levels include £1, £100, £250, £500, £1,000, £3,000 and £5,000.

Why we like The Exeter?

Clients we have covered by the Exeter provide great feedback about the policy. The ease of making a claim and general all round brilliant customer service is key.  In the years of working with this provider, I don’t remember any negative feedback at all relating to any aspect of their service.  The Exeter also offer Life insurance and Income Protection cover.

SMP Healthcare is an independent private medical insurance broker and as such we have no affiliation to any provider. The Exeter is just one provider amongst many and before making any recommendation for our clients we do provide a full market review based on your own specific circumstances.

Depending on your medical history or policy requirements, cover from The Exeter may not be the best choice for you and we would explain why in our recommendation.
