Employee Benefits – Company Dental Insurance

Dental insurance is available from many of the UK health insurers either as a standalone product or as an add-on to Private Medical Insurance policies. There is also some cover for dental treatment available on Cash Plans enabling you as the client to choose exactly what level of dental cover you receive. When you are reviewing your Employee Benefits then Company Dental Insurance is certainly one to consider.

Company Dental Insurance is available as a standalone policy

As an example Bupa Dental offer 4 levels of cover for a company scheme for three or more employees. The premiums vary depending on the level of cover. Level 4 is the highest premium per person and offers the most comprehensive cover.

*Cover on the Bupa Company Dental Insurance includes:

  • Routine Dental treatment
  • Emergency Dental treatment (includes worldwide)
  • Dental accident
  • Oral cancer cover – (in full regardless of cover level following a 6 month wait period from start date)
  • Cash Benefit for hospital stay

*There are also exclusions on the Bupa Company Dental insurance to be aware of including:

  • Cosmetic treatment
  • Any dental treatment not normally provided in the UK
  • Dental injury received whilst participating in a physical contact sport
  • Procedures carried out in a hospital such as wisdom teeth extractions.
  • Dental consumables such as toothbrush, mouthwash and dental floss

*Information from the BUPA Dental Plan Membership guide

In most cases by taking a company scheme you alleviate the necessity of having a dental examination prior to the inception of your policy which is a real benefit for many people.

How much does a Company Dental Insurance policy cost?

For an example of the cost of a dental policy, Cigna offer a guideline price on their DentaCare scheme which confirms for companies of 3-9 employees as follows:

  • Level 2 @ £11.53 per person per month
  • Cover at Level 3 @ £17.35 per person per month
  • Level 4 @ £23.86 per person per month

The sample premiums shown are a guideline only for the period 1st January 2016 – 30th September 2016 and any quotation would need to be confirmed by Cigna.

BUPA produced a brilliant video in 2014 which is a MUST for parents to play to their children bringing the Tooth Fairy to life and we would recommend that you enjoy it too by following the link below:
