Private medical insurance does not have a cash value but there are times when you may be eligible to claim Cash Back.

If you choose to have your in-patient treatment via the NHS your policy may give you a Cash Back value.

As an example from Vitality Health:

One of the benefits of their Business Healthcare policy is the employer cash back benefit. You can claim up to 10% of your premium after the renewal of your policy. The amount you can claim is dependent on the Vitality Status of your employees.

They also offer an NHS Cash Back benefit within the core cover of their Business Healthcare policy which provides:

£250 per night for in-patient treatment up to £2000

£125 per night for day-patient treatment up to £500

Vitality Health are not the only insurer to offer the NHS Cash Back benefit however, this is provided as an example of what may be available to you.

Many insurance companies offer a one of childbirth cash benefit. This is normally £100 and it can be claimed for the birth or legal adoption of a child.

Some insurers offer Dental and Optical add on benefits. Where available you would pay your dentist or optician and claim the money back from your insurer. There will be a maximum benefit limit per policy year.
